Pablo Espinoza (@talesbypablo) and Charlotte Schildmeijer (@charlottescanvas) are back for another photo series. Pablo’s family on his mother’s side are from the areas around Åre, so that’s where they went this time. Finding a more suitable winter spot for amazing views and even greater photo opportunities are probably close to impossible.
“Förberget is a bit further out from the central parts of Åre and offers incredible views of the surrounding landscape. It’s the perfect spot for us since we were looking to spend time with our cameras rather than with our skis.”
“When Åre is covered in snow like this it’s close to magic. We stopped the car all the time just to get a photo of every lonely red cabin we came across.”
“We got a lift by scooter to Buustamons Fjällgård, which is a homestead offering lunch and Swedish Fika. Wooden panels and that classic cabin interior make it very idyllic.”
“We went hiking in the woods and explored the trails around Åre. Sometimes we tried venturing off the trails and ended up sinking into the snow so deep that only our heads were sticking up. So if you’re going, make sure to bring snowshoes!”
Other places to visit for..
“You’ll find the best coffee at Åre Kafferosteri. The proprietors Eva and Pär will take good care of you, and tell you anything there’s to know about coffee making. Temperatures, beans, brewing techniques, and everything in-between.”
“Åre’s Chokladfabrik serves the best hot chocolate we’ve ever had. It comes with marshmallows and cream, as every decent cup should.”
